El Karama Lodge
General information 
El Karama Lodge is a rustic well blended in private lodge
Situated on El Karama Ranch/private reserve right on the Ewaso
Nyiro river.
The lodge got 4 rooms on suite and a fantastic dinning area over
viewing the River.
The chefs here are very talented and will keep you extremely well
fed during your visit! Each cottage has its own ensuite bathroom
with hot water and flushing toilets and huge, open windows to enjoy
the view. Made from local rocks and old wood from fallen trees,
each cottage is unique in style and shape and very, very comfortable!
Game walking, game driving and night drives are all possible here
on El Karama, you may explore the area as you choose, on foot,
by car or even by camel or horseback if you prefer.
El. Karama Ranch/Reserve, situated on the Laikipia Plateau between
Mount Kenya and the Great Rift Valley, is a family owned and run
ranch. At an altitude of 5700 feet the climate is pleasant, and
the scenery: rolling savannah and bushland, rocky ranges of hills
and meandering rivers is pristine and beautiful.
 This
small patch of Africa is animated by a great diversity of wildlife:
nearly 400 species of birds and over 70 species of mammals and
by many fascinating people who make it their life, work and home.
The ranch raises quality Sahiwal cattle to sell as breeding stock;
the Maasai people being among the most regular customers. El.Karama
employs up to 70 Kenyans from various tribes, all of whom contribute
to the functioning and special character of the place.
El.Karama ranch is a successful cattle operation, but because of
the extensive methods used the landscape is almost completely unaltered
from its natural state.
As a result El.Karama has a flourishing population of wildlife
with over 70 species of mammals and nearly 400 species of birds.
Of the well known African big game El. Karama is home to elephant,
hippo, buffalo, lion, leopard and cheetah. In addition to these
there are such species as the rare and geographically restricted
grevy's zebra, the unique Laikipia hartebeest, Oryx Antelope and
the unusual reticulated giraffe. Recently African hunting dogs
have also reappeared on the ranch.
People familiar with temperate environments are usually astonished
by the diversity and abundance of animals visible: their presence
and activities, calls and tracks are part of every moment you spend
on a horse exploring this country.
And as for the birds the variety is infinite: from the big to
the little, the bright or the camouflaged, the ones you see and
the ones you hear. From the moment you first pick up your binoculars
you'll be hooked and names such as ostrich, kori bustard, martial
eagle, honey guide, paradise flycatcher and finfoot will become
exciting new discoveries as you meet the birds they belong to.

Cancellation Policy:
Between 120 and 46 days prior to date of stay 10%
of rates will be charged Between 45 and 31 days prior to date of stay 30%
of rates will be chargedBetween 30 and 0 days prior to date of stay or a
no-show, 100% will be charged.
Payment Terms:
Booking will be confirmed on receipt of a 10%
deposit Full Balance of payment is required 45 days prior
to clients arrival.
