Walking with Lions
JK have been involved out fitting walking safaris and expeditions in
Kenya for many of years. With the diversity of Kenya there are many
areas that are prefect for walking Safaris. Our walking trips ranges
from Nothern frointer camel expeditions with Turkanas and Samburus,
Trekking expeditions throuigh the Loita Hills to week long pure walking
safaris around the Masai Mara. The ultimate way to experience safari
for you who wants an active adventure walking with Lions

Walking safari - Masai mara 7 days/6 nights
There is no better way to walk then with Masai warriors in their back yard and experience the Mara surroundings through their eyes and their knowledge. You will not only see masses of game you will learn about the culture and the eco system in the Masai way – yhe only way.
The camp comprises of South African Dome in heavy Canvas with proper mattresses and beddings, shower tent and toilet tent as well as a dinning tent will put up every evening. (we call it very comfortable camping)
The walking team comprises of Driver guide, Cook, 2 Masai Scouts/guides and Head walking guide who is also Masai.
A general day will start of with an early morning walk around camp and back for breakfast. And the head of walking after breakfast with pick nick lunch. Mid day will be spent under at Tree on the savanna to have lunch and rest. From about 1500 it is time to walk again to next camp which will have been moved by the driver and the cook during the day.
The get maximum out of game viewing a daypack with pick nick and water will be carried. Distance wise a day will max be 20 KM but usually around 15 KM. The goal is to see as much of the wildlife as possible and learn about the Masai culture and the surrounding areas as possible so making distance is not the important ting. The days can change a lot depending on what game will be seen and so on.
The walking are is Korriaki and Siana Group Ranch which is part of the greater Masai Mara and where walking is allowed. The game in the area is very good and there is a very good chance to see everything except rhino. The walk starts over at Korraki and ends at Leleshwa Camp on Siana.
Guides and scout are well trained and will at all timed have a sat phone, stretcher and first aid kit.
Day 1 – After briefing and breakfast in Nairobi it is time to set off towards Masai Mara and the walking safari of a lifetime. The dive is around 5 hours, via Narok,to the Masai Mara the capital of Masai Land. The camp cook and driver/guide will set up camp and you'll meet your Masai walking guides and get your briefing in the afternoon. If time allows a first afternoon walk will take off around 1600 to familiarize with the terrain and your guides for the next few days

Day 2 - 5 - You and the walking guides will set off each day with a day pack on your walks from one camp to another. The vehicle will take all the kit and will be ready and waiting for you at the next nights' campsite. It is also available through radio or our sat phone in case of problem during the day. On the evening of the day 5 end at JKs Leleshwa Camp. Here waits a warm shower (which you will have had on the way as well) and a cold Tusker and a 5 course meal and last but not least a very comfortable bed All meals and overnights at the campsites. All drinks at Leleshwa is included (beer, water, soda and house wine)

Day 6 - Drive into the park itself and spend the whole day game driving and getting close to all the wildlife you will have seen on your walks. Lunch will be in the open under a tree. Arrive in the late afternoon at our permanent tented camp, Leleshwa and relax in full size beds and hot water showers for the evening. The possibility to do a night game drive before or after dinner is there at no extra cost.
To spend so many days in the Masai Mara with out a proper game drive is no go that’s why we put this day in. During 4 days of walking they will have see a lot so a last day game drive is a must.

Day 7 – After a sleep in or a morning walk and a late breakfast it is time to drive back to Nairobi for a Nairobi night or flight to next destination or simply fly direct to Lamu or Malindi/Watamu from Masai Mara.
