Explore Kenya - Laikipia, Baringo, Bogoria, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara
Explore the Laikipia plateau in central Kenya: vast open ranches, shadowed by the snow-capped Mount Kenya and the largest elephant population in Kenya. Trek through Laikipia with a traditional Samburu camel caravan. Experience the magic of the Rift Valley visiting Lake Baringo, Bogoria and the world heritage site Lake Nakuru. You will finally end up in the majestic Masai Mara with its open savanna, tremendous amount of game and the living culture of the Purko Masai.

Day 1 - Drive to Lewa Safari Camp or El Karama. Enjoy the private ranch - conservation areas in Laikipia. Day - night drives and nature walks. Game includes
elephant, giraffe, large herds of eland, all plains game, Grevvy's zebra,
lion, cheetah, black and white rhino.
Day 2 - Lewa Safari Camp or El Karama. Day & night drives and nature walks.
Day 3 - After a morning walk or drive and breakfast you will drive to the start of the camel trek on Ol Donyo Lemburo ranch in the heart of Laikipia. Meet your Samburu guides and have lunch before heading off for the afternoon walk. The camels will carry all equipment as well as the personal luggage. First Camp will be set at the waterfall on Sosian Ranch. You stay in comfortable dome tents with camping bed with proper linen. Toilet and shower units as well a dining is also set up. Dinner and stories by the campfire under the African sky.
Day 4 - Full day trekking in the African bush. Half of the camel team will go on ahead to set up the camp for the night while you will ride and walk looking for game and enjoying this tract of unspoilt African wilderness. Elephants are plenty in the area so close elephant encounters are very likely. Camp for the evening will be set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river. Dinner and overnight bush camp
Day 5 - Drive to Lake Baringo. Lunch and then enjoy an afternoon boat ride on the lake, spotting birds and wildlife in this beautiful fresh water lake, one of the few in this area of the Rift valley. Dinner and overnight at Samatian Island Lodge or an exclusive house at Roberts Camp.
Day 6 – Full day exploring the lake from a local canoe one of Kenyans best bird watching sites. Dinner and overnight at Samatian Island Lodge or exclusive house at Roberts Camp.
Day 7 – After breakfast, drive down towards Lake Nakuru doing a game drive en route in Lake Bogoria National park. Pick nick lunch in Bogoria by the hot springs. Arrive in time for a late lunch at the Mbweha Lodge, just outside Lake Nakuru National park on the Delemere Estate. Do a nature walk on this privately owned Congreve conservancy in the afternoon. Return to the cottages for dinner and overnight. A night game drive is also possible here to try and spot the nocturnal and elusive Aardvark.
Day 8 – Spend a full day game viewing in Nakuru National Park. This park is famous for its large variety and numbers of birds, leopard, lion and rhino. Return to the Nakuru Mbweha Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 - Drive to the Masai Mara and JK’s Leleshwa tented camp - your home the next few days. Game drive after lunch and enjoy the wonderful wildlife in one of the worlds best wildlife areas. Dinner and overnight at the camp
Day 10 - 11 Spend three days exploring the mighty Masai Mara area. You may do game walks in the areas outside the reserve itself, game drives in the reserve and in the conservation areas and group ranches that surround the reserve. Here you also have he opportunity to visit local villages and local schools for a cultural immersion into this, probably the most famous of Kenya’s tribes. With the help of your driver/guide, you may set the pace to suit you. We suggest you spend one full day with the Masai and then return to the camp. Spend the rest of the time game driving or taking walks at your preference. All meals and overnight at the Leleshwa tented camp.
Day 12 After breakfast do a morning game viewing drive or a nature walk. Drive or fly back to Nairobi or fly directly to Lamu or Malindi - Watamu. To this itinerary you can add as many extra nights in the Masai Mara as you wish. If you feel camel trekking is nothing for you it can be taken out of the program. A day hike at Mt Kenya or a night or two in Meru National Park can be added as well.
